There is so much out there about nutrition and what is healthy and what is not healthy - it is very difficult to really know what to believe. A while ago I saw an interview with Dana White (President of the UFC) and he talked about he totally transformed himself. I am a big UFC fan and really do like Dana White no BS style. So, I started to research and research and through all my research what made sense to me was that your genetic deficiencies are your "core" issues rather than it just being what it is. Let me back up, my history is this: I am a successful businessman that has overcome a lot of my flaws by working on them and focusing on them and using tools to improve. Now, I believe that we are who we are, and we can't really change. Instead, we can use tools that allow us to better ourselves and become improved human beings. But those things at our core still remain. in order to maintain your improvement, it is a constant effort. Meaning the tools are vital to staying with and maintaining your improvement's. I teach this via leadership training and positive thinking training. All of this is Done via Iambigdave.com and realpositivethinking.com. I only mention this to explain that I have been successful in changing where I was able to focus and had that desire to improve. Why is this relevant, because over and over I have completely failed at changing my diet and effectively staying at a healthy weight. I started this journey at 425 pounds. Going back a bit, I already had gone through a process and lost a 100lbs but gained it back quickly and then some. Back at it again at 425lbs on a new mission. I knew that food has its grip on me, and it dictated to me rather than me to it. And I liked it that way. Always happiest when I am eating great food. Had no fear of my size or care in the world what I weighed. Until it started impacting my ability to do what I love to do. At 425lbs that was my peak weight, and I knew I had to find a exercise platform that I enjoyed. 2 years ago, so that would be 2022 or maybe late 2021, I found a Boxing App called Fight Camp I quickly found a huge passion for boxing. At that time, there was a coach named coach PJ and this guy motivated me and made me feel comfortable as my boxing skills were non- existent. But I didn't care as I loved every minute of it and look forward to the next session. In the beginning I would just stand flatfooted and use my arms, as a year went by, I was able to start to bounce around (a little) and move as I punch. Although I love this and gained strengthen, I really lost no weight. Proving you can't outwork a bad diet. That is where my research began to find out what can I do to assist me in this journey to weight 320lbs and maintain that weight (most importantly). That is also why I am documenting this. Because if this works, I want to be able to motivate all those out there like me that don't know if they can overcome their weight issues and show them there are real tools available to assist us. Or show them that this helps but solves nothing. Or that this was a failure. It's a long journey, but I am on it and ready to see where it goes.
By the way, a few months ago (its 9.18.24), I took a genetic test, and it showed me all my deficiencies plus told me what supplements to take to optimize my body. I am not a doctor or anything like that, this is just based on what I read and have learned and believe. I took the 10X multivitamin and TMG and also started taking Perfect Amino. That's it, didn't change a thing and somehow went from 425 to 388.8. I don't weigh myself often as of now. My new plan is the following:
1) I want to weigh 340lbs by the end of the year
2) I will continue to box and do body weight exercises
3) I will take Perfect Amino and the 10X vitamins and TMG
4) I am going on a Low Carb, Low fat diet
5) I have high blood sugar and I hope by the end of the 3 months have that solved.
6) My final weight goal is 320lbs by end of Feb 2025
7)After hitting 320lbs find a way to maintain that weight. Lower is ok, but not higher
8) I will weigh myself and put it on this site either weekly or every other week
9) I will share my diet and details and experience and feelings
Let's Begin!
9/17/24 is my start date. Ben on a 4 week trip Musky Fishing and I must admit, I am really tired, really almost exhausted. Weighted in this morning at 388.8. Interestingly enough, a few months ago I was 425. That's when I started this journey of testing out taking mentholated vitamins, perfect amino . At that time I took a genetic test from 10X and also added TMG.
9/18/24 I think i have a cold. Second day of a low carb, low fat diet in hopes of resetting my body, especially my blood sugar levels and I am sick. This sucks as I want to eat! 4;34pm Update - I am feeling better but not great. Have not cheated al all - even thought I want to cheat and eat. oh and I am sluggish and have a little headache. Expecting that to last a week or so. 9/20/24 - my headache is not that bad. Still sluggish but not as much and I am not sure of how much is because of this cold or my diet. Still got the cold but feeling better everyday. This is a good challenge for me as I always eat when I am sick. Still eating, but its eggs, berry's, grass fed beef, yogurt, steak, and some Atkins bars for my upcoming travel or when I am starving. Not sure if the Atkins bar fit into this but its something for now. I will cut them out later. I am only using Ghee butter, grass-fed butter for now to cook. My goal is to be on a whole food diet once this initial 3 months is up and to maintain at or below 320.
9/24/24 - weigh in Time. Sick as a Dog with Covid, so that has not helped. But have stayed strong. 384.6 is my new weight. I lost 4.2lbs this week. I guess it's not terrible. Hell, I thought I shit 4.2lbs. Was hoping for like 10lbs and then be less after that. I am slightly disappointed here but hell, I think being sick isn't helping. I really want to be working out, but that ain't happening. I will get through this, and I will get to my weight. Challenges are just part of it!
It is 10/1/24. Start of week 3 on my Journey With being sick it has been very difficult, but I have maintained the low carb diet. I have during this time also went to grass fed beef, cut out all seed oils. I am eating raspberries and blackberries. Weighed in at 379.6. That is 9.2lbs in 2 weeks. I am guessing that is mostly water weight and the real weight lose starts now. 2lbs a week from here would be great. I would like more, but I am also still working out and hopefully gaining muscle.
10/8/24. It's Hurricane Milton headed for the West Coast of Florida and it is my weigh in day. I have to evacuate and headed to Miami to Gamble to help distract me from the storm. My sickness is way better but it wants to stick around. I have worked very hard and weighed in at 376.4 which is a 3.2lb loss for the week. I am going to do my best to eat correctly this coming week. But this Hurricane has me stressed. I will likely drink a little but hopefully eat clean.
10/15/24. It's weigh in day and boy was I tired this week after my Hurricane Drink Fest at the Big Guitar in Miami. Boy do I like Beer. LOL. My weight in was at 376.4. That is the same exact weight as last week. Of course I am disappointed in this, but I did cheat on one meal and drink tons of beer in 2 days. I guess I should be happy with weighing the same. I will keep moving forward!!
10/22/24. Weighed in at 375. That is a 1.4lbs lost this week. Always wanting more, but happy as I am gaining muscle. I bought a fancy scale, it was $220 and it is suppose to measure muscle gain. I am hoping to verify strength increase as I lose weight. Hopefully it arrives this week. Keep on pressing forward. A little nervous about hitting my goal.
10/29/24. Weighed in at 371.8 lbs. Almost 4lbs in a week is pretty good. I got that scale I talked about and there is Interesting information about fat and muscle mass. I think it is too early to tell how accurate this is - but interesting for sure.
It has been a tough week. First time since I started this low carb diet that I had huge urges to cheat and eat food I know I need to stay away from. Shitty feeling, but I stayed focused and did not give in to my urges. Which for me is a big deal!
11/5/24. Weigh in day. Not exactly a great week for my weight loss targets. I visited family and had a blast but really didn't follow my strict diet. Weighed in a 371.6. So a slight weight loss - I will take it. It is getting more and more difficult to stay strong on the diet but I went right back to it.
11/12 - its is weigh in time. I Continue to be focused on my journey of learning Healthy Behavior's. I am at 367.4 which is a 4.2lbs reduction. I like it. I continue to Box and body weight train 5+ days a week. I am getting stronger, slowly but gaining strength and endurance
11/19 - I Keep pushing and pushing and pushing. It's not hard anymore it now is just a habit to do so. I actually really miss a day when I don't work out. I am 360.2 lbs this week and it feel great. From the start of this journey almost 2 years ago - that is a 65lb drop and I am very proud of that all while gaining so much strength that was desperately needed in my life.
11/26/24 - I weigh 358.6 - Holy shit I am in the 350's. Fantastic! So excited and happy to be back down at this weight level. I know I can hit 320 and am so excited.
12/10/24 - I am at 357.8. Somehow I lost a week in here somewhere so I apologize for that as I want this to be a real as possible. I did not lose much weight but I had beer again for the first time and once it hits your lips - It's so good. LOL I have not been craving sugar at all and I really believe that is a testament to the vitamins I take and the perfect amino. NEVER in my life have I not craved sugar. Amazing. With that said, I always still want a beer......
12/17/24. Weighed in today at 356.8. Man, My workouts are getting intense. I am really gaining strength as I continue to push myself. I wish I was losing more weight, but I feel great and that is the measurement that matters most to me. Keeping focused over the holidays has had some days of thinking about what food your missing, but honestly I go back and remember how bad I felt compared to now and that helps me stick with it.
